As Mute Duo, pedal steel guitarist Sam Wagster and percussionist Skyler Rowe drift and rage with unusual grace. Best known for collaborations with Ryley Walker, Bill MacKay, Ben Lamar Gay, and Tim Kinsella, the two players stretch out gloriously on their latest, Lapse in Passage, which twists and churns within the heady post-everything framework that’s flourished in their hometown of Chicago for decades, exploring loose-limbed spiritual jazz, inverted exotica, and ragged improv through a skewed Americana lens. Amparanoia is the pseudonym of Spanish singer/guitarist Amparo Sánchez combining her first name with the word ‘paranoia’. It was also the name of the band she fronted from 1996 to 2006. Debut album, El Poder de Machín, has been described as being “bright, exuberant… with a heavy Latin influence”, whereas the 2002-released Somos Viento has been called “a more acoustic blend of Cuban and reggae forms”.“Himnopsis Colectiva” te invita a bailar y despertar a golpe de cumbia rebajada, western, rock hipnótico fronterizo, reggae caribeño, pop progresivo, electrónica, latín y ritmos urbanos. Himnopsis Colectiva” invites you to dance and wake up to the beat of lowered cumbia, western, hypnotic border rock, Caribbean reggae, progressive pop, electronic music, Latin and urban rhythms. There are ten unpublished songs that propose to get out of hypnosis through hymns that contain a definition and a purpose, where music connects us on a collective level and transports us to an exciting dance of emotions and rhythms to reach a better connection with our great power. Julian Mayorga (Columbia) The sixth album of German Hard-Rock heroes, gathered by Alexander Beyrott, back with the original line-up with David Readman on vocals, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen! Voodoo Circle are back with their sixth album “Locked & Loaded” and, like on their second album “Broken Heart Syndrome”, they present themselves with the most convincing line-up in the band’s history. For this release, band boss, guitarist and main songwriter Alex Beyrodt gathered singer David Readman (Pink Cream 69), bass player Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) and drummer Markus Kullman (Glenn Hughes, among others), all of them excellent instrumentalists. The band celebrates a vigorous, deeply melodic hybrid of hard rock and melodic metal, equipped with specific quotes and some bluesy elements, with cleverly interspersed cross-references to some of their own role models. Jeremy Gara, drummer of Arcade Fire, releases his second solo album “Passerine Finale” on Invada Records. The album was mastered by Helge Sten (Deathprod, Supersilent) and composed, produced and recorded by Jeremy over the last three years, Passerine Finale is a varied collection of songs and disparate sounds, from arranged static noise to extended melodic drones, improvised and chiseled at, ignoring form or structure, and completed the moment things “felt” something. The album comes pressed on silver vinyl, and is housed in a heavyweight sleeve with digital download card included, and artwork throughout by Jeremy himself. On track L_06, Jeremy explains, “L_06 – the visual thing, like the song it accompanies, comes from trying to push really simple objects and figures to a place where they hopefully, somehow, become imprinted with a kind of emotional energy – attempting to entwine single note drones and simple straight lines together tightly enough that they dance a little. “Originally from Ottawa, Canada, Jeremy has been a member of Arcade Fire since 2004. Outside of the band, he has recently collaborated with bandmate Sarah Neufeld and world-renowned dancer and choreographer Peggy Baker on composing music for a large scale dance production called Who We Are In The Dark and performed it live at various dance festivals. He’s also been touring and performing his solo material across the world since his first album, Limn, was released in March of 2016. Limited colored 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Critically acclaimed Nashville-based alt-rock band Moon Taxi returns with their sixth full-length album, Silver Dream. Moon Taxi set the stage for Silver Dream with the radio hit “Hometown Heroes” which was heralded by Uproxx as “an alt-rock track that sounds like it was made for the radio.” On fellow single “One Step Away,” dusty guitar rings out over a steady beat and luminous keys as a chantable chorus sails over an unshakable groove. “One Step Away” arrived on the heels of the inspiring track “Light Up” which Alternative Press called “the uplifting track everyone needs to hear right now.” Joe Cocker Live is a superb live album by Joe Cocker, released in 1990. Psycho is the second in a series of five double vinyl releases that bring together some of Ennio Morricone’s greatest soundtrack music. Each collection centres on a different movie genre, together they allow the listener to rediscover the unmatched genius of the greatest movie composer of all time. The Maestro. This collection is dedicated to Morricone’s work with Italian directors spanning the late 1960s up to the 1980s. These scores accompany some darkly dramatic films, some veering into the realms of horror. The music highlights the psychological tension within the films and contrasts with his work in the USA during the same era. This is Morricone where he feels truly at home, working with the nuances and drama of the Italian psyche as laid bare by Italian filmmakers. Starting 70 years ago as an arranger for the piece Mamma Bianca, Ennio Morricone is the emperor of scores and soundtracks. Morricone has always been a huge influence for the likes of Hans Zimmer, Danger Mouse, Muse, Metallica and many more musicians. He’s one of the most successful composers of all-time, selling over 70 million records and winning dozens of awards. Psycho on black vinyl includes a 4-page insert with liner notes written by Claudio Fuiano. The first release was the urgent “Making Time”, which featured guitarist Eddie Phillips playing his guitar with a violin bow, two years before Jimmy Page started doing so. In January 1985, The Mark Four reformed for a one-off show in Cheshunt, and subsequently Eddie Phillips and original lead vocalist Kenny Pickett reunited to make some new Creation recordings. At the time, only two tracks – “Spirit Called Love” and a new version of “Making Time” – were issued as a single in 1987, before the record label went out of business. These two tracks plus the remainder of the recordings were finally issued as the album Psychedelic Rose in 2004. Gary Moore was one of the finest and most respected guitarists of his generation. Gary Moore was a great live performer and this live show will be a welcome addition to any fan’s collection. Raised by hippie parents in Ann Arbor, Michigan, smack between the Hash Bash and the car factories – Hawthorne’s old man taught him to play bass guitar at age five. He would play records in the house all while Mayer was growing up. He put him up on game. He’d say, “You hear him singing there? That’s David Ruffin.” Or, “You hear that guitar solo? That’s Stephen Stills.” And young Hawthorne would sit there, with his bowl of cereal, soaking it up. Mayer DJed in Michigan at the height of Detroit hip-hop. He was there. Before Em blew, when Dilla was still alive. He was spinning records and making rap beats. Now he’s making soul records and rappers are sampling him. Circle of life. Mayer’s been digging in the crates and you can hear the influences in his music. A touch of Shuggie Otis here, some Bob Marley there, a sprinkle of Sly Stone Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Styles We Paid For stands as a testament to this Year In Isolation, reflecting these dark days through Robert Pollard’s prism, with the band sounding as confident and authoritative as ever. Vinyl LP pressing. Sam Cooke’s landmark full-length Ain’t That Good News, notable for being the last studio album released during his lifetime was originally released in March 1964, just nine months before Cooke’s untimely passing. The album features hit songs such as “Another Saturday Night,” “Ain’t That Good News,” “Good Times,” as well as the iconic “A Change Is Gonna Come,” which became an anthem for the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. The restored Sam Cooke At The Copa reveals Cooke’s Copacabana performance with all of the nuance and passion that his adoring audience experienced fifty-five years ago. For those who never had a chance to hear Sam Cooke in person, Sam Cooke At The Copa affords the best seat in the house.Sam Cooke’s set at the Copa is a microcosm of his overall career insofar as it mirrored the artist’s own eclecticism. Broadway, blues, folk, jazz, gospel and even country, and, of course, soul are represented on such tracks as “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out,” “Frankie and Johnny,” “Try A Little Tenderness,” “Amen,” and the hits “Twistin’ The Night Away,” “You Send Me” and “(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons.” Of special note is Cooke’s version of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind” that refected the struggle for civil rights then underway. Dylan’s song inspired Cooke to write his like themed masterpiece, “A Change Is Gonna Come”. For the first time on vinyl, Keep Movin’ On, a 23-song collection that encompasses some of Sam Cooke’s best loved and most incisive songs and represents the artist both at the very pinnacle and, tragically, at the very end of his ground breaking career. The songs that comprise Keep Movin’ On were, for the most part, written and produced by Sam Cooke following his successful fight for complete creative and economic control over his recordings and repertoire. The notion of artistic self-determination was an unheard-of concept for virtually any recording artist, let alone a young rhythm and blues singer in the early 1960s.–The 2-album 180g vinyl set features an essay by notable Sam Cooke biographer Peter Guralnick, written expressly for the initial CD release in 2001. Guralnick defines Cooke’s recordings sound “as spontaneous, as elegant, as full of mirth, sadness, and surprise as when it first came out of his mouth, translating somehow across the ages in ways that have little to do with calculation or fashion and everything to do with spontaneity of feeling, with a kind of purity of soul.” Double green and white colored vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Great New ReleasesFrom 20CMW Records * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Rhye -“Home” Written throughout 2019 and early 2020, recorded at Milosh’s home studio, United Recording Studios and Revival at The Complex, and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Interpol, My Bloody Valentine, U2, The Killers), Home is familiar in it’s synthesis of propulsive beats, orchestral flourishes, piano ruminations and sultry, gender-nonconforming vocals, but never have they sounded more cohesive or alive. Home is bookended by celestial cantos sung by the Danish National Girls’ Choir, who Rhye performed with at a landmark concert in Denmark in 2017. Milosh’s voice quivers when he recalls the moment the 49-piece choir poured into the concert hall, enveloping the audience in sound. “I was standing side stage waiting to go on and I got all teary and started choking up because of how beautiful it was,” he said. “I knew I needed to have them on this record.” Indie Opaque Purple 2LP w/ a special etching on Side D! Founded in Australia, rock band Fraternity will forever be associated with their lead singer, Bon Scott, who would later join AC/DC and enjoy worldwide fame. However, Scott’s tenure with Fraternity has been poorly documented on the reissue market. Of the two albums the band had issued at the time, Livestock and Flaming Galah, neither album has been released officially. And their story has never been told accurately… Half a century later, Seasons Of Change finally seeks to amend this oversight. Curated in conjunction with surviving band members (Bruce Howe, John Freeman, Sam See, John Bisset, Uncle John Eyers and the Estate of Mick Jurd) and their original manager Hamish Henry, this 3-CD set seeks to offer the complete recorded output of Fraternity, including both their albums from 1971-72 (originally issued on Sweet Peach and RCA respectively), utilizing the original master tapes and best possible remastering sources, adding all relevant non-albums singles A’s and B’s and EP tracks. Bonus tracks feature Fraternity backing The Valentines’ Vince Lovegrove and their victory at the National Battle Of The Sounds competition where they claimed the title of Australia’s No. 1 band. In addition, research by Victor Marshall for this package uncovered the long-lost Hamish Henry cache of session tapes which have been curated into Fraternity’s third album Second Chance. Second Chance also features live tracks recorded at PT Lincoln, South Australia as part of their historic Country Arts Tour and unheard songs including vocals and song writing contributions from Bon Scott. The Paul BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND set the standards in the 1960s for kick-ass electric blues. Arguably no other group could hold a candle to them. In 1964 The Paul BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND recorded what was to be their first album for Elektra Records. For unknown reasons the album was never issued and sat quietly in the vaults for 30 years. The Original Lost Elektra Sessions features original versions of some their most beloved tracks, plus some tracks very few people have ever heard. The album features Mike Bloomfield, Elvin Bishop & Sam Lay. This historic CD is now back in print due to screaming fan requests. Not available on Vinyl. Paul Butterfield set the standards in the 1960s & 1970s for kick-ass electric blues. Arguably no other group could hold a candle to them. In 1973 he formed Paul Butterfield’s Better Days. They issued a number of fine albums on the Bearsville label, one of those albums was Live At Winterland Ballroom. Featured on this album are Geoff Muldaur & Amos Garrett. Due to popular demand we are making this fine album available again on compact disc. Snowy White is one of a handful of classic blues-orientated British electric guitar players – musicians whose sound, technique and style has echoed the originality of the blues with the excitement of contemporary rock. He has developed his own style of ‘English’ blues, a combination of clear, clean blues phrases and harder-edged riffs that are a recognisable feature of his very personal songs. In the Autumn of 1976 he was invited to tour America and Europe with Pink Floyd as their first augmenting musician, a gig which took up most of his time throughout 1977. In 1979, Peter Green decided to head for the studio once more and invited Snowy and his band along to jam. The result was the album entitled ‘In the Skies’, now something of a collector’s item. He was then asked by Pink Floyd to go to America to rehearse their new show entitled ‘The Wall’, and, at the same time, the rock band Thin Lizzy invited him to become a full-time member. Snowy stayed with the band for nearly three years of touring, recording ‘Chinatown’ and ‘Renegade’ with them in 1982, before leaving to pursue his solo career. Snowy’s first solo album was entitled ‘White Flames’. This album included the timeless ‘Bird of Paradise’, written by Snowy, which became a hit single around the world. Every year from1999 to 2014 Snowy toured the world with Roger Waters, including the ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ and massive ‘The Wall’ tour. In between tours, he founded the Snowy White Blues Project, recording the albums ‘In Our Time Of Living’ and ‘In Our Time… Live’. Snowy’s most recent album, ‘The Situation’ came out in 2018. His latest offering, ‘Something On Me,’ due October 2020, features Thomas White on drums, Rowan Bassett on bass and appearances by various The White Flames members.
